Real Anime Situation! DT (also known as Real Eroge Situation! DT and Real Hentai Situation! DT) is a five-route visual novel by Jitaku Studio. It follows a protagonist who finds himself with multiple heroines vying for his affection and who are all too willing to use their bodies to convince him to look their way.
This is the latest in a series of Real Anime Situation titles. Still, much like Real Anime Situation! 2, this is a standalone title with references and minor cameos as the only crossover.
The Flag Crusher
Real Anime Situation! DT opens up with what seems to be a stereotypical first meeting for a romance, except it suddenly goes wrong. This is Shun’s life. He has a unique condition, almost like a curse, where he’ll frequently run into potential romance, but then something unfortunate happens. Maybe another guy comes along and gets the girl instead, the fire alarm goes off, or an accident occurs and ruins the mood. All the flags that could spark a romance are inevitably crushed. It’s a pretty amusing idea, but not so much for the one who has to live through it.
While Shun feels that he’ll never find love, he’s surrounded by plenty of candidates, several of whom are fairly obviously (to everyone but Shun) interested. But they don’t make a move due to the flag crush syndrome, at least until something surprising happens.
Ena has been watching Shun from afar. At first, she was just curious, having seen some of the flag crush situations playing out in front of her. Over time, she starts to fall for him. And she has something that none of the others do: the will to push through. She confesses to Shun, falls into a lewd accident with him, and keeps going until it escalates into a sexual situation. Then his childhood friend Hinano walks in on them who now has the motivation to admit that she wants to be more. Suddenly Shun is being approached constantly, with Ena, Hinano, and other heroines fighting over him and dragging him into all sorts of sexual situations while accidents constantly happen to try and prevent them.
Busty Babes
Real Anime Situation! DT is set up in four routes, one of which splits, making it five endings. There’s certainly a difference in importance though, with Ena and Hinano playing the main roles. Whoever you choose, the common route has plenty of H-scenes for most of the heroines, but it is worth mentioning that it’s not always straightforward to navigate, so our walkthrough might be helpful.
Ena is the standout heroine by far. She constantly moves forward to the point of being pushy, is the one who acts as the motivation for the others, has otaku interests, and is incredibly likable even to her rivals. Her route is also the most interesting with events around game design, getting to know each other, and one of the only real emotional events in the Real Anime Situation! DT. It might be undermined if you play Hinano’s route first though, as it essentially gives away a secret from Ena’s route.
Hinano is slightly less outgoing, but quickly sheds any sense of holding back. There’s an easy rapport with her which comes with being friends for so many years, though that does come with its downsides which are explored in her route. Unfortunately, it feels like her route lacks any sense of tension or excitement, perhaps fittingly for a relationship that has been established for so long. Some of her best moments instead are the comedic ones when she’s fighting with the others or her plans get thwarted.
Slightly further away from the situation is Ayane. She’s Shun’s caring ‘big sister figure’, a friend of his actual older sister. She’s had her eye on Shun for a long time, so someone moving in is a real threat. She has one of the better routes. It involves an obstacle I didn’t expect and looks at the relationship with his real sister too. The downside is that if you don’t choose her, she may barely get involved as she’s the only heroine who isn’t in their school.
Nayuta and Matsuri share most of their route. In the other routes, they act more as support for Shun and help to interfere with the heroines to stop arguments. Nayuta is the student council president and likes Shun from the start. While Shun is unnaturally unlucky, Nayuta is the opposite, having amazing luck. Sadly, while it’s sometimes used to counter Shun’s issues, it’s not really done in a particularly interesting way. She does have some amusing moments of teasing, but it never goes as far as it does with some other heroines. Matsuri is also on the student council and is the only heroine who isn’t interested from the beginning. She’s also the only heroine who isn’t part of the massive mammaries club, though she’s not exactly lacking there herself. While her route was nothing special, she was my favorite heroine as I enjoyed the interactions with her where she acted like a supportive friend, unlike most of the others who are all about aggressive seduction.
Storywise, outside of a handful of moments of drama I can’t say there was anything memorable in Real Anime Situation! DT and I can’t say the characters were highlights either. Clicking through some routes started to feel like a slog of fairly tedious story elements between H-scenes.
Despite this, there were plenty of funny moments to break things up, more often than not between the heroines themselves rather than with Shun and one of them. One thing I particularly liked in this was that all of the heroines are either friends at the start or become so. There are plenty of amusing arguments and fights which add a lot of comedy, but also a sense of competition and lack of willingness to give up, even when beaten. Ena even claims to be the NTR Queen at one point, saying she’ll steal him away. This also means that the heroines who lost don’t just go away quietly, they continue to be involved.
Real Hentai Situation! DT
Unsurprisingly for a visual novel sometimes called Real Hentai Situation! DT or Real Eroge Situation! DT, there are plenty of adult scenes with the heroines (and even one heroine’s mother joining in a couple times).
Many of the scenes are a little beyond vanilla, but nothing too shocking. Like a pseudo-gloryhole roleplay, being pulled into a small area like a changing room, using toys, or being stepped on. A handful of the forty-five scenes are even partially animated.
I did find myself a little disappointed though. Perhaps partially due to there being more exciting and extreme situations in Real Anime Situation! 2 which I’d read previously, but also due to the reuse of ideas between routes. Someone else walking in or being present but unaware during the act was repeated more than a few times.
Production Values
Real Anime Situation! DT includes animated sprites using the E-mote engine and they look brilliant. There’s plenty of movement with swaying hair and bouncing chests, along with the more common blinking and lip movement. This event extends to the sprite in the textbox when a character isn’t on the main part of the screen. This really helps to bring the dialogue to life, along with the voice acting which is also good.
The music was suitable for the setting if nothing remarkable, but I did come across a frequent issue where the sound would crackle and cut very briefly repeatedly. It was a minor annoyance, but repeated often enough that I did feel it impacted my experience. Hopefully, this isn’t a commonly experienced issue.
While the reading experience was mostly good too and has some fun wordplay, it could use another editing pass. I came across a few mistakes that stood out, including some lines that were clearly incorrect for the situation just judging by reading them in English. For example, Shun calls himself a sister at one point.
Verdict
Real Anime Situation! DT has its moments, especially when it comes to the comedic interactions between the heroines. It just fails to stand out in most other ways. It’s a decent eroge and perhaps some people will like the heroines or situations created more than I did, but unlike Real Anime Situation! 2, I think this one is destined for the bargain bin.
