ToHeart – Walkthrough & Guide

ToHeart includes eleven endings, including a ‘normal/bad ending’ and two hidden ones. There are also some Steam achievements that do not have clear unlock requirements.

This guide will tell you how to unlock the hidden routes and the less obvious achievements. Unlike our typical Visual Novel Guides and Walkthroughs, it will not provide a full walkthrough for all routes, as this is included in-game in the built-in route guide. It does however provide a full walkthrough for a route to get the achievement for completing a route without the route guide.

All Ages Remake

This guide is only for the 2025 remake of ToHeart for PC (and Nintendo Switch, which only has Japanese-language support). You will need another walkthrough if you are playing the 1997 original or the PlayStation 1 remake.

How to Skip Read Scenes on PC

Instead of holding Ctrl as shown on the user interface, you can press Shift to skip scenes until you reach either an unread scene or a choice. If you are using an Xbox style controller to play, it is the right trigger.

General Tips

If you don’t want to use the route guide but find yourself unable to find the correct path to heroine endings, a general tip is that several routes require you to speak to many heroines. You will need to complete the path to their routes up to a certain point, before eventually choosing a different heroine over them. In many cases, these do not have any obvious link.

If you are using the route guide, choose any choice with the heart icon. Unintuitively, these are occasionally different than the choices with the heroine icon.

Legacy Voices with Voiced Protagonist

If you choose to use the original (legacy) voices, the protagonist Hiroyuki will not be voiced. You can go to Options / Sound, then choose Enable Voice (All) and select Legacy.

Then choose Hiroyuki’s icon and change Enable Voice from Off to Modern. This will change the Enable Voice (All) option to show Custom and let you play ToHeart with the original voices, with the exception of Hiroyuki who will have his modern voice.

You can also change other characters in the same way, such as choosing all modern voices except for Lemmy.

Please note: If you are playing the Serio and Masashi DLC for ToHeart, the original/legacy voices do not exist for this as it is new to the 2025 remake.

How to Unlock Rio Hinamiya

Complete the Akari route. You can then turn on the route guide for Rio.

If you’d like to navigate yourself, completing a route once will add a new choice on 3/6 to ‘Go’ or ‘Don’t Go’ after receiving a letter. Choose to go.

How to Unlock Ayaka Kurusugawa

Complete both the Aoi and Serika routes. You can then turn on the route guide for Ayaka.

If you’d like to navigate yourself, completing the Aoi and Serika routes will add a new choice on 3/11 to choose Ayaka on the map in the Park.

We’ll Always Be Friends, Right?/We’ll Always Be Friends Forever and Ever, Right?

To unlock the achievement We’ll Always Be Friends, Right?, fail to get a heroine ending by the time of the school trip and you will get the normal/bad ending with Masashi. To unlock We’ll Always Be Friends Forever and Ever, Right? do this multiple times.

This should be easy, but if you are having trouble, just keep returning home.

Telepathy Brought Me to You

To unlock the Telepathy Brought Me to You achievement, you need to disable the decision support in the options menu before starting a route. You also need to not use the route guide.

With both disabled, you need to complete any route. You can choose an easier one, such as the Multi route if you wish to do this without a walkthrough. However, if you want a clear walkthrough, you can follow the steps below for the Shiho route.
