Sugar * Style is a fairly straightforward visual novel, but has confused quite a few people due to its unusual system. It includes two four routes and endings.
This guide will tell you about the choices to access the various endings, mention Steam achievements, and explain the situation regarding the adult patch.
If you’ve not yet purchased this game, you may wish to first check out our review.

Steam Achievements
Sugar * Style includes Steam Achievements. These are all gained by following the four routes and choosing all four jobs as described below.

Route and Job Guide
Sugar * Style confuses some readers as after the opening video it shows a screen saying ‘Mao’s Route’, which is soon followed by ‘Ichika’s Route’, ‘ Hare’s Route, and ‘Kaname’s Route’. The actual route choice is simple though.
Early in the common route of this visual novel, you will be presented with a choice asking ‘Who do you want to see?’ which is the only choice needed to get onto a route. Choose your heroine here.
Not long after, it will give you a choice saying ‘Choose a Job’ with choices of House Work, Carpenter, Entertainer, and Security. These choices do not relate to a specific heroine, but instead give you short scenes for all heroines. To view them all, choose a different option each time you play.
Sugar * Style works differently than most visual novels in how it is structured. After making your choices, it doesn’t immediately start that heroine’s route. Instead, scenes relating to your heroine and job choice are inserted in the common route. The heroine route starts in full later.
For example, if you choose Mao and Carpenter, after the prologue it will go something like this:
Common 01-1 > Mao 02 > Common 01-2 > Common 02-1 > Carpenter Job 01 > Common 02-1 > Mao 03 > Common 02-2… and so on until it starts Mao’s Route.
If you are looking for another more comedic visual novel, perhaps Sankaku Renai would be worth checking out. We have also covered a wide variety of visual novels both original to English and localized from Japanese, which you can check out here.
